The first awards at the 38th “Molodist” were given out Oct 24. The award ceremony for gay-lesbian films “Sunny Bunny” took place at cinema “Zhovten”. The international jury headed by Anatoliy Yarema, with Larysa Denysenko (Ukraine), Ed Mishyn (Russia), and Samantha Sokolovsky (Germany), made up the decision to award the full-length “Guitar” by Amy Redford (USA). A special diploma went to the “You, me and him” by Brazilian director Daniel Ribeiro.

Oct 25 competition program finished with Slavic and Asian movies. Last three films presented were “Snow” by Bosnian Aida Begic, “Fine, totally fine” by Japanese director Yosuke Fujita and “Huddersfield” by Serbian Ivan Zivkovic. At the press conference one of “Huddersfield” actors, Damjan Kecojevic told about the start of the picture and the film distribution in Serbia.

Oct 24 French was heard at festival locations almost everywhere. Two participants of the full-length competition program were screened on Friday – “Versailles” by Pierre Scholler and “The Fight” by Anais Barbeau-Lavalette. Journalists used the chance to see the contemporary and classis French movies and meet with their creators and critics.

Actress and painter Larisa Kadochnikova picked up the theme of flights Roman Balayan started. On Day 4 she presented her memoir book “White bird. Flights in dreams and reality” she had been writing for 4 years. “Molodist” special correspondent found out what, to Mrs. Kadochnikova’s mind, Ukrainian filmmakers lack and why her book would be a useful tool for any of them.

Cinema fans and journalists hanging around “Kyiv” theater on Day 3 saw more than any other “Molodist” location could offer. Oct 21 was the day to present many festival features among which three events caused general resonance and, what is especially remarkable, attracted many well-known personalities.
