The International Jury
Each year The Board of Directors forms an international jury, which works according to the regulations for an international film festival (Regulations for International Film Festivals by FIAPF) and the rules and regulations of IFF "Molodist".

The International Jury considers only films in the Competition program and awards the festival's main prizes:

  • Grand Prix for the best competition film (10 000 USD and the statuette «The Scythian Deer»)
  • prize for the best feature film (a monetary award or material prize of 2 500 USD)
  • prize for the best short (fiction, animation, documentary) film (a monetary award or material prize of 2 500 USD)
  • prize for the best student (fiction, animation, documentary) film (a monetary award or material prize of 2 500 USD)
  • prize for best performances by a young actor (1 000 EUR)
  • festival diplomas

Armand Assante, Head of Jury, Actor, USA

 

Assante was born in New York City in 1949. He graduated from Cornwall Central High School and received his dramatic training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts

In 1970s Assante regularly appeared in two NBC soap operas: “How to Survive” and “Marriage and The Doctors”. His first film was “The Lords of Flatbush” (1974). A role that brought him greater attention came in 1980's in “Private Benjamin”. In 1987 he gained really general acceptance in mini-serial “Napoleon and Josephine: A Love Story”. His somewhat sinister look has made him a popular choice for tough-guy heroes. He portrayed the crime kingpin John Gotti in the made-for-television biopic “Gotti”, for which he won his Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1996. Assante had about 100 film and TV-roles.

Alla Demidova, Actress (Russia)

Alla Demidova has been People's Artist of Russia since 1984. She was born in 1936 in Moscow. Graduated from National University in Moscow (MGU), specialized in economics, then from Shchukin Drama School. Alla Demidova started her stage career in Student Theatre of MGU, 1964 she became a prima donna in Theatre on Taganka. After acting in “Day Stars” (directed by Igor Talankin) she became widely known in Russia, and by the end of 80s – worldwide, by being on tour in “Phaedra” (directed by Roman Viktyuk). 1993 founded her own theatre “A”. Also writes and works on TV.

 Andras Fesos, Film director, Script writer (Hungary)

Andreas Fesoes (born 1963, Budapest, Hungary) graduated in History, English philology and Esthetics. Worked as theater director, and then studied at Film Academy in Budapest, successfully graduated in 1996. Directs and produces films, acts and writes screenplays. Among his films there are many which were awarded by Molodist Film Festival. «Seaside, Dusk» (2000) obtained Ecumenical Jury Prize, «Journey» (1994) – Special Prize, «The Lost Movie» (1993) got the Best Short.

Serhiy Yakutovich, Artist (Ukraine)

Serhiy Yakutovych was born on the 21st of November, 1952, in Kyiv in an artist’s family. The scope of his professional interests is broad: it includes iconography and easel graphic works, historical painting, and cinema. He created illustrative series for more than one hundred national and foreign books, as well as more than one hundred and fifty paintings. Besides, he was an art director of many films, such as “A Prayer for Hetman Mazepa” (directed by Y. Ilyenko), “When We Were the Cossacks”, “The Last Hetman”, “Occupational Safety for a TV-Viewer”, “Paradise Lost. Gogol” (directed by R. Plakhov-Modestov), “Taras Bulba” (directed by V. Bortko). Serhiy Yakutovych is a Honored Artist of Ukraine and an Associate Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. His works were honoured on numerous international art competitions; he is a National Taras Shevchenko Award winner. Works of Sergiy Yakutovich are reposited in museums of Ukraine, Russia, France, Spain, Poland, Italy, and Germany.

 

 

Gaga Chkheidze, Founder and Director of Tbilisi International Film (Georgia)

 

Gaga Chkheidze was born in 1957 in Tbilisi, Georgia. During 1976-1980 he had been studying literature and arts at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena (Germany). Then he worked as editor at Georgian State TV Company. From 1984 till 1990 he was a teacher of German Literature at State University. After that (1990-2000) he worked at Freunde der deutschen Kinemathek and Forum of Young Cinema in Berlin. He is a founder and director of Tbilisi International Film (2000-2008). Besides he is a director of Georgian National Film Center and chairman of board Georgian Film Fund.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yuriy Makarov, TV journalist (Ukraine)

Yuriy Makarov is an editor-in-chief of “Ukrainskyy tyzhden” (“Ukrainian week”), journalist, writer. He is an anchorman of “Telemaniya”, “Cinema Empire”, “Document” on the “1+1” TV channel. Makarov is author of several books, director of documentaries, and prize-winner of TV prizes “Golden Era” (1987) and “Teletriumph” (2006, 2007).
