The conference was opened by Andriy Khalpakhchi, who greeted all the participants on this occasion: "We have gathered here on the occasion of the opening of Ukrainian pavillion at Village International. I'd like to remind that the idea of creating Ukrainian Cinema Foundation itself has emerged during the visit to Cannes last year. This year thanks to our partners, company Nemiroff, our dream has come true. Ukrainian cinema will be presented at the largest scale ever, our catalogue of recent Ukrainian films has been expanded too, as well as amount of promo-materials. Already now cinema professionals from around the world are informed of cinema projects that will be presented at the Ukrainian pavillion, around 5000 invitations for our screenings have been sent".
Oleksandr Maksymchuk has told about the importance of the project for International Charitable Fund "Ukraine 3000" and has informed that Head of Supervisory Council of the Fund, First Lady of Ukraine, Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko is planning as well as last year to be present at the Village International and to personally open the presentation of Ukrainian cinema in Cannes: "During the Festival Ukrainian Cinema Foundation will make a very important step and present, along with its partners, the first Ukrainian pavillion in the history of Cannes, proudly presenting contemporary Ukrainian cinema to the participants of the Festival and film market. We are grateful to all the partners of Ukrainian Cinema Foundation who help us with this".
