On September 15th, at 22:00 at GogolFest we will screen This Is the End: The Deadly Selection. It is a short films program dedicated to what we usually are afraid of and seldom talk about. Let’s face it: even Gogol himself was afraid of the Old Reaper. Hence we’d like to synchronize with popular media myths and expectations of certain part of the audience, and offer a number of apocalypse scenarios. From deep personal drama through social catastrophe, past the phenomena of physical death as it is to typical scenarios of nuclear disaster.
Beside the films of the previous year’s selection, at GogolFest we will screen Tribeca IFF’s participant – the feature Two Islands by Jan Ijäs. After the screening, there’ll be a discussion with the director. The Deadly Selection will be presented by Illia Gladshtein, the Molodist’s Program Coordinator.
On September 17th, at 16:00 we’ll screen shorts from the country of Wim Wenders. The Long Night of German Shorts is the selection of best films from Germany, so we guarantee you the total six hours of cinema-goer’s delight.
Screenings are traditionally supported by German film center German Films Service + Marketing and German Association of Short Films (AG Kurtz Film).
We welcome you to Vydubychy and remind you that October is almost here.
