About the event
Where does theatre end and cinema begin? What happens when a theatrical mise-en-scène turns into a film frame, and the director conceptualises the stage space as if working with a camera?
At this creative session, we’ll explore how theater and cinema adopt each other’s language, techniques, and perspectives. We will discuss frame composition, spatial organization, working with actors, and set design, as well as the way the director’s vision transforms movement, gesture, and space into an art form.
From the cinematic worlds of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Sergei Parajanov, Kira Muratova, Lars von Trier, and Peter Greenaway to the theatrical explorations of Erwin Piscator, Giorgio Strehler, Robert Wilson, and Christian Lupa — we’ll explore how creators go beyond the boundaries between the two art forms and discover new forms of expression.
This is a conversation about cinema that thinks like theater and theater that sees the world through a lens, about the common ground of these two art forms and the infinity of the director’s vision.
