A cinematic parable about old Levko Serdiuk, who lives in a post-war village and tends to the communal well. Yet, his dedication goes unappreciated. However, an unexpected visit from his family prompts him to symbolically rise from his coffin. Against the backdrop of this intimate drama, the village itself is transforming as modernity ruthlessly intrudes upon the traditional way of life, bringing electric poles, an iron windmill, and airplanes in the sky.
